A wonderful antique Victorian Scottish brooch modelled in 9ct Yellow Gold with engraved patterning and a Celtic cross in the centre. Scottish jewellery grew in popularity in the mid- 1800s as Queen Victoria’s frequent trips to her Scottish Castle Balmoral saw her return with Scottish souvenirs which influenced the trend. The piece is decorated with lovely Agate stones which have been nicknamed the earth rainbow for their patterned texture that shows varying colours the earth can produce. The piece is fitted with a sturdy pin and safety chain for added security when worn. A highly collectable Scottish brooch steeped in history.
